Before dawn

I am beside vastness,
by a scalding brew.

I heard them sniff,
and there twinkled one,
maybe two!
Kindled now,

thousands glitter by the brew!

A soul now I suppose
is all that it can see,
like vastness sans void,
for a moment, it is infinity.

I'd look for stars and there they'd be,
by the tree, by the meadows,
by the sea;
scale the heights and yet
there they'd be!

Yet when I am infinity and bear
all that I can see,
I'd glitter by the brew by which I kneel,
I'd set upon shoulders a great big tree
and hold firmly an enormous sea,

there for a moment
I am glitters and glee.
