Who mocks!

I met a friend there past an alley;
there but stood our shades of yore!

So young were we then that

in envy did she grow green,
in envy did she grow lush,
in envy did she bloom the hues
and
upon the shoulder borne dews
in envy did she toss the Sun!

We were so young, we dwelled in laughter,
Nature's fruits we mocked,
stepped on hues and shrugged the Suns
off
they're off and onto puddles flung!

I met a friend there past that alley
by the tattered hues,
our former selves are shrugged
off
they're off and onto puddles flung,
they're making merry
by the fallen Sun!

Now we mock our former selves,
she but grins and smiles,

she finds herself yet another muse:
a child--
she's merely nine!
